I\\\'m trying to lighten my wardrobe. I have way too many neutral or dark colors.

My first attempt was by buying this Charlotte Ronson top. Her clothes are always so fun, girly, and a bit hippie....nothing dark about them.

I really like the silky feel of the top, and the beads are kinda cool. Not sure if it is too trendy for me though. The embroidery rocks.

Happy New Year everyone! Here's what I wore on New Year's Eve to dinner and dancing with friends. This top is one of my favorites, though I rarely wear it because it's a bit fancy and doesn't allow for a bra. It's by sass & bide, but I got it heavily discounted at a sample sale. My jeans are also sass & bide, frayed misfits, which I got in May for 30% off and have been wearing since. Needless to say, I topped it all off with a Mike & Chris leather hoodie. I then accessorized with my Chloe Betty, which is a pain to dance with, and my Balenciaga shoes. Once again, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you enjoyed yours, and here's to a great 2007.

Secret Santa outfit

My high school friends and I had a little gift exchange, and this was my outfit. The cardigan shawl thing was the point of interest. I felt a little self-conscious at first, as it does give off a bit of a homeless feel. I love it though. It's very cozy, and I'm liking all things purple these days. I also think the back is pretty interesting. I got the cardigan as well as the sweater-dress at a random no-name Korean boutique next to my mom's butcher's. Threw them together over J Brands and Chloe shoes with my Chanel bag and was ready to hang out with my girls. Here's a picture of the sweater-dress:

I like the cream color and the fun sleeves. I can and will wear it by itself. I'm also particularly fond of this necklace, by Viv & Ingrid, that my friend got me for Christmas and gave to me at the exchange. I know this post is overdue, but happy holidays to everyone anyway! My lights are still up.

Wore this outfit to go watch "Pursuit of Happyness" with high school friends last week. I guess this is pretty typical of what I wear from day to day. Mike + Chris jacket, check, Earnest Sewn jeans, check. The top is from Butterfly Dropout and I'm wearing it with a James Perse tank underneath, so as to avoid too much cleavage. On my feet are my Chloe Paddington moccasins and on my shoulder my new baby, the resort Chanel Cabas in khaki. It's an early 21st birthday gift, and I am entirely smitten with it!

During a recent trip to NY, this is what I purchased.:

Black Kenneth Cole Coat. This jacket actually has a removable hood, but you can\'t tell from this picture.
Marc Jacobs Selma Bag on sale for only $200. it was originally $1100.
The turtleneck is something old, but it matched my new bag so well
Other items I got were: another Kenneth Cole Coat in white, Kenneth Cole Reaction Coat in Burgundy, Espirit jacket, and another coat by someone I can't recall.

Overall, I purchased 5 coats/jackets! I'll post them all soon.

Holiday shopping

I haven't posted in a while and I have a few outfits to post from this week, so stay tuned! Here's the first. This is from early this week when I went shopping with my mom at the Grove. I wore it with my Viktor + Rolf for H + M trench and Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf. The dress is from Marc by Marc Jacobs. It's velour or something, really soft and smooth. I love the rose print and the volume of this thing. The puff sleeves look a little Romeo over my James Perse long tee, but I kind of like the effect. I actually got the dress for a pretty good price at a boutique in Koreatown a while ago, but this was my first time wearing it. It's not quite fancy, but it's not for class either, so I don't get to wear it at school. I'd like to try it out with some cute tights and pumps rather than with jeans some time. These are, of course, my favorite Earnest Sewn zip cigarettes, and the shoes are my new London Soles, acquired during a shopbop promotion. Merry Christmas Eve, everyone, and I'll be posting more outfits shortly.

Black Cowl Neck Sweater

Wow, my first "my look" blog! I've been waiting to share my clothes with all you fashionistas for a while, but my camera has been acting funny. It seems to only like certain types of batteries...very weird, I know.

Anyways, I bought this sweater at BeBe a few months ago and I love it! I've actually only worn it once, I have a bad habit of not wanting to wear the "nicer" things in my closet. It's black (obviously), kind of shiny and has a super long cowl neck. I prefer to wear a white camisole underneath, but this time I'm wearing black instead. The belt is from Express, and I purchased it a few weeks ago. It was a last minute idea to add the belt to this particular sweater, and I'm glad I did; it's not the same without an accessory. Lastly, the jeans are also from Express. They're my favorite pair and I can't find ANYTHING like them; I bought them a year or two ago.

I also tried this look with leggings and boots. I love that look of a sweater dress with a pair of leggings or stockings underneath, but it's just NOT for me!

Just to recap...Sweater by Bebe, Jeans by Express, Belt by Express. No fancy designer labels and I still manage to put together a cute outfit!

I'm back in L.A. for the holidays and it feels SO GOOD to be done with finals and out of my disgusting study-mode clothes. Here I am with my Christmas tree in a Mike & Chris hoodie, Marc by Marc Jacobs cashmere scarf, Earnest Sewn zip skinnies, and Chloe Paddington moccasins. All I did today was get my hair done really, but I just wanted to have a coordinated oufit after so many days of fashion sloth!

Marc by Marc Jacobs coat, Viktor & Rolf for H & M blouse and pencil skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs peep-toes, Chloe patent Betty bag.

I wanted to keep it cute and dressy but not too formal, so I opted for a big coat and a casual bag to balance out the tights and the pencil skirt. The blouse also has mesh hearts at the neckline, which keep it pretty playful. My boyfriend took me to a nice but relaxed Italian restaurant and I think I had the right amount of formality to my outfit. Okay, maybe I was a TINY bit overdressed, but I was okay with that. So there are a couple issues with this outfit, which perhaps you've noticed. My shoes do not quite match my bag, and they are also peep-toes worn with tights. Here's a close-up:

These are one of my favorite pairs of shoes. I got them at the Nordstrom sale over summer and considering how uncomfortable and red they are, I've gotten a lot of use out of them. Anyway, I hadn't worn them in a while and wanted to take them out. It is, however, pretty cold, so I put on some tights and it seemed to be working okay. What do you think?

Warmth in a scarf-coat

Here's another cold-weather school outfit. It involves a Grey Ant scarf coat that I got at a sample sale for $60 - it's an old style, but not too many people know Grey Ant's current styles, so no biggie - a James Perse sweater-dress, and good old Earnest Sewn zip jeans. Franco Sarto shoes, Chloe Edith Conteen, and Marc by MJ watch. It's kind of interesting that I wear Chloe knock-off shoes with a real Chloe bag, isn't it? Oh well, I love these shoes. They're really comfortable! Anyway, I want to rave a little bit about how much I love this coat. It's very warm but not too heavy - it's a fleece coat - and I love the skirty hem. The color goes well with jeans and the length is convenient in that it will cover anything so I don't have to fuss too much when in desperate need of a coat. I'll also put in a word for James Perse cashmere. It's AWESOME.

Nanette Lepore Wonderland Embroidered Dress

Although this Nanette Lepore Wonderland dress is out of season, even in California, I couldn\'t pass up the great price. I bought this at Neiman Marcus for a very palatable price of $86 during the last final clearance sale in November. The original price was something like 300+ dollars. What a deal!

Besides the great price, I love that this dress can be worn either with straps or as a sleeveless. I plan on pairing the sleeveless version with a light cardigan in the spring.

There\'s also an elastic wand to accomodate fluctuations in weight. :)

Button-mad trench

Here's what I wore to class yesterday. James Perse tank, Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater, Trovata trench, J Brand 12" jeans, Chloe Edith Conteen, Franco Sarto flats, and Marc by Marc Jacobs watch. It's getting fairly chilly and this trench does a great job of keeping out the wind. It's one of my favorite coats, with the crazy buttons (there are 14 in that picture and at least 4 more) and the abrupt length. I kept it on most of the day, but thought I'd share what was underneath just cause. I got this sweater on sale at Bloomies over the summer and love that it's basic enough to stay in style without being so overtly Marc Jacobs. The sherbert color isn't very typical of my wardrobe either, which I guess is a plus. Anyway, this is a pretty standard class outfit for me, bag included. Yes, I carry a Chloe bag to class. It fits my laptop and a couple notebooks very nicely!

Today was partially sunny and mild and fuzzy, so I felt a little velvet-y. Ok, a lot velvety. I had to look somewhat professional, so I wore DKNY grey velvet trousers, Max Studio two-tone scoop-neck green top, black corduroy blazer, Casadei velvet bow flats (in the inset) and Maxx NY green velvet "Mambo" coin hobo. Needless to say, I felt really plush!

So I need your advise? Which belt do you think looks better with this Banana Republic top (bought it on sale for $10).

Belt A is also made by Banana Republic. It is very stretchy and has a simple metal design in the center. My thoughts are that is a very simple and elegant.

Belt B is a faux leather belt (from Target I think). The silver hardware gives it a more trendy look, good for going out clubbing or to a concert.

This dress has not fit me in years. Ever time I "resolve" to give it to charity or sell it, my steadfastness dissolves. Besides a lot of sentimental value, the detailing on this dress is simply amazing. Simple embroidery is woven into this shimmery blue dress and the beads simply make this dress glisten. Escada is waaayy too pricey and mature for my tastes, but I got this jacket as a present and I love it. I have worn this jacket with jeans for a casual look and on business occasions as well. There is so much detail and precision on this jacket. For example, the detailed engraving on the buttons and there is an "escada" tag sitting underneath the jacket collar. I took these pictures in my living and dining room, boy what a difference a little lightening makes on color.

Lucky Me! While shopping at Macy's the other days, I found these puppies on sale.

Retail Price: $150

Price Paid: $37 (including taxes)

The style is called Dana Baby Flats. The shoes are made of soft calf skin and leather. The only glitch to this whole deal was that they are about a 1/2 size smaller than what I normally wear...for the price, I am willing to do some squeezing.
